Everything You Need to Know
Check In / Check Out
Check in is at 3pm. Check out is at 10am.
Parking
Please park your cars in the driveway as there is no overnight street parking. Please don't park your cars in the garage. It has a very low ceiling, and we have had a number of renters destroy the garage door mechanism because their car hit it when they were entering the garage.
Trash - Very Important!
Please tie up all trash in the white trash bags that you will find under the kitchen sink. Don’t just throw food garbage directly in the cans…everything should be tied up tightly in white plastic bags. Tightly tied trash bags can be brought outside and placed in the trash bins in the trash shed in the driveway. This is extremely important…otherwise, you will be visited by raccoons and skunks and that is not fun at all.
Linens & Things
The housekeeper will have all the beds made and will change the linens at the end of your stay. She will also leave bath towels in the bathrooms. There are beach towels in the downstairs closet. If you do use the beach towels, please wash and dry them in the laundry room. The turnovers are tight for the Cape housecleaners particularly on the weekends, and she won’t have enough time to wash and dry all the bath and all the beach towels. We will make sure that there are several rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom and a roll of paper towels in the kitchen, but you may have to replenish depending on how long you are staying. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer. There are kitchen towels, hand towels, trash bags, laundry detergent and dishwashing detergent provided.
Other Amenities & Misc Info
If the lights in the upstairs bathroom are not working, reset the GFI electrical outlet in the downstairs bathroom and that should fix the problem. We don't know why those sit on the same circuit, but it's a quick fix. Circuit breakers rarely pop, but if one does, the breakers are in the laundry room downstairs.
The smoke detectors are all on lithium batteries which are supposed to last 10 years and the batteries are not replaceable. This should not happen, but if for some reason one of them is chirping, even after pushing the reset button, just remove the detector, put it in the trash shed and let us know we need to replace it. We all know how annoying the chirping can, be so just get it out of the house and out of earshot. There is a spare smoke detector in the closet in the upstairs bathroom that can be swapped in.
The house has a gas grill. We fill up 3 propane gas tanks at the beginning of the summer and replenish every time we are down there, so you should have plenty of gas. The extra tanks are under the back porch. Please make sure you TURN OFF the grill. If for some reason you leave the gas on and you need to get a tank refilled, you can do that at Stop&Shop which is just a couple miles away.
The house also has a Keurig coffee machine and a drip coffee maker. There is also a wonderful café in town, Nirvana Coffee, which is a great morning excursion.
Wifi & Media
The wifi for the house is "Brisky" and the password is "houseboat" all lowercase. There are three smart TVs in the house that you can log into and using your streaming services. The two TVs in the upstairs and downstairs sitting rooms are also connect to Comcast cable. There is a DVD/VCR player and dozens of old children's VCR tape if you want an old school experience.
