The Neighborhood

One of the best things about the house is how much this is in walking distance (scroll down for details).

Restaurants

there are two restaurants within a couple blocks of the house - Mattakesse Wharf & Osterville fish too

The Beach

you are just a few houses away from the beach

The Marina

the marina is also a couple blocks from the house with restaurants, boat rentals and the whale watch

The Beach

House is part of a beach association which gives renters rights to use the beach. The easement to the beach is about 100 yards from the house (map below). You are free to walk the length of the beach which, at low tide, goes for miles. However, if you want to set up beach chairs, blankets, etc. you should only do that on the beach area directly accessed from the easement.

Directions

turn right out of the house, left on sunset lane and the easement is on your left

The Easement

THis is what the access to the beach looks like. It's ok to set down chairs or boards during the day, but do not leave overnight

The Beach

this is a picture of the beach at low tide. you can walk for miles, have lunch on a sand bar or just enjoy the view. The water in the bay is pretty shallow and is some of the warmest on the cape

Restaurants

There are two dining options a short walk from the house.

Mattekkese Wharf

turn right out of the house, left on sunset lane and the easement is on your left

Osterville Fish Too

This is your classic Cape clam shack

The Marina

A few blocks from the house is the Barnstable Marina.

Whale Watch

The whale watch departs twice daily during the summer months and is a great excursion. parking can be challenging and isn't free, but you can easily walk from the house and save the hassle.

Fishing Charters

There are a number of individually operated fishing charters that run out of the harbor. look them up online or walk over and talk to a captain.

Boat Rentals

The marina rents out power boats for half or full day rentals. You can't travel too far, but it is a fun day to drive around the bay or anchor on sandy neck with a picnic.
